Attacking Bad Evidence

Your opponent will cite weak sources. Three clean attacks beat ten messy ones.

Attack 1 — date it

'Their source is from 2009 — pre-pandemic, pre-inflation. The economic landscape they're describing doesn't exist anymore.'

Attack 2 — bias it

'Their source is the National Restaurant Association — they have a direct financial interest in defeating this bill.'

Attack 3 — gap it

'Their source measures opinions, not outcomes. We don't know what people THINK — we need to know what would HAPPEN.'

Quick Check
  1. 1. Opponent cites a study from 2008 on social media use. Best attack:

Answer all 1 to check.

Takeaway

Date it, bias it, or gap it. Pick one and land clean.
