Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using DB8 Speech & Debate Academy, operated by Hunter Hsieh, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Your continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of these terms and any updates we post.

Product description

DB8 Speech & Debate Academy is an online curriculum offering structured lessons, drills, and progress tracking for students learning Congressional debate and other speech & debate formats. We offer free and paid subscription plans with different daily lesson limits.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service. Prohibited conduct includes: unlawful use; fraud or spam; infringing on intellectual property rights; interfering with security (malware, probing, scraping); reverse engineering; circumventing technical limits; or sharing paid account access with others.

Intellectual property

Hunter Hsieh retains all ownership rights to the app, its content, curriculum, software, documentation, and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your personal learning, within the limits of your selected plan. You may not redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

Payment and subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly. By subscribing, you agree to pay the fees shown at checkout. We use Paddle.com as our online reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment processing, billing, tax, subscription management, and related customer service. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Account credentials

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.

Service level

We aim to keep the service available and error-free, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Termination and suspension

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for: material breach of these terms; non-payment; security or fraud risk; or repeated or serious policy violations. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. If you cancel a paid subscription, access ends right away and you will be dropped to the Free tier limits.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hunter Hsieh's aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the six months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, except where prohibited by law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hunter Hsieh from any claims arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.

Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of California.
