Reading the Room's Comprehension Needs
Denser, more technical content generally needs a slightly slower pace with more pauses, while familiar or simpler content can move a bit faster without losing the audience. A speaker rushing through the single most important explanation in the speech, just to save time elsewhere, undermines the entire teaching goal of the event.
Balancing Pace With the Time Limit
Since time is tight, pacing decisions require trade-offs — a speaker might trim a less essential example to protect a slower, clearer pace during the most complex explanation. Cutting content is almost always better than rushing through it, since a poorly understood fact delivered fast provides less value than a well-understood fact given proper time.
