Speech Order and Times
A PF round has a fixed sequence of eight speeches plus two crossfires. You will be able to list every speech in order with its time limit and its speaker.
The Full Sequence
The round runs: First Constructive (Pro, 4 min), First Constructive (Con, 4 min), Crossfire (3 min), Second Rebuttal (Pro, 4 min), Second Rebuttal (Con, 4 min), Crossfire (3 min), Summary (Pro, 3 min), Summary (Con, 3 min), Grand Crossfire (3 min), Final Focus (Pro, 2 min), Final Focus (Con, 2 min). Each team also has 3 minutes of total prep time to use across the whole round, in any increments they choose.
Why the Order Matters
Notice that whichever side spoke first in constructives also speaks first in every later speech — the order is locked in after the coin flip. Con always has the 'last word' advantage of speaking second in Final Focus, which puts pressure on Pro to make sure their final message is airtight before Con gets a final rebuttal-style close.
Prep Time Strategy
Competitive teams rarely use all 3 minutes of prep before Constructives, since that speech is pre-written. Instead they save prep for the moments that matter most: right before Second Rebuttal (to decide what to frontline) and right before Final Focus (to align the team's closing narrative). Burning prep evenly without a plan is a common novice mistake.

The judge writes across the top: 'Pro Con | Pro Con | Con Pro | Pro Con.' Wait — actually PF always keeps the same team speaking first in every speech pair, so if Pro spoke first in Constructive, the judge writes 'Con 1st, Pro 1st, Con 2nd, Pro 2nd' is wrong; the correct order stays consistent: Pro first in every paired speech, Con second, all the way through Final Focus.
